South Pacific 2002 - the Solomon Islands Reports

Julie preaching in HoniaraIn the News

The Solomon Star carried news accounts of both the Winds of Change campaign and the YMG conferences.  In the intense heat of the tropics, Rev. Keith Dyer of Great Britain taught Pastors and Leaders for three days.  Some came from their jobs at government offices to attend.  Emma McPhail, a youth pastor from England, shared with youth workers and preached a live youth event for all of Honiara.  A powerful women’s conference was steered by Rev. Carol Burstow of Great Britain.  Women responded daily to the messages of hope, purpose, and freedom given by Jesus Christ for mind, spirit, and emotions.  Hundreds were saved each night in the soccer stadiumJulie preached each night of the conference to a packed house – people were standing outside the crowded building trying to hear.  On one night, at the direction of the Holy Spirit, Julie began to preach salvation to those standing in the darkness outside.  Though she couldn’t see them, God saw the people and their needs.  Over 40 people literally came in from the darkness to give their lives to Christ.  At other times during the conference, the Holy Spirit swept across the people like waves of power and virtue.

A man tells the crowd how he was healed"I am a youth pastor, and I attended the night crusade, but I was bound.  I was frustrated, but when I went forward to be prayed for, I felt the chains of self-pity, depression and the bitterness towards God falling off from my life. I received a revelation of the love of God.  I learned the power of forgiveness." Roscoe Gina Zinihite, Honiara

"I traveled all the way from Malaita, to attend this crusade...  This nation needs ‘a new winds of change’, after 2 years of tension.  Thank God for your ministry, encouraging the Christian brothers and sisters in the Solomon Islands." Andrew Rarumae, Aviu Malaita Province
